Inclusive Salvation: Who Can Be Forgiven by God?

God’s forgiveness is offered to all people, without exception, except for the single sin Scripture identifies as unforgivable: blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Everything else can be forgiven, and Scripture repeatedly commands believers to teach all nations without judging who is “worthy.”

1. The Scope of God’s Forgiveness

  • Universal Forgiveness — Scripture teaches that all manner of sin can be forgiven. Matthew 12:31 “All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men…”
  • The One Exception — Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin. This sin requires deliberate knowledge and rejection of the Spirit’s work.

2. Who Is Included?

  • Every Person — No one is excluded because of job, appearance, ethnicity, past, birthplace, or income.
  • God’s View vs. Human Judgment — 1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us that God looks at the heart, not outward appearance.

3. The Danger of Judging Others

  • Judgment Belongs to God — It is hurtful and wrong to act as judge and jury over people.
  • Confessing Christ — Matthew 10:32–33 shows that whosoever confesses Christ is included. Jesus uses an inclusive term: whosoever.

4. The Great Commission: Our Responsibility

  • Teach All Nations — Matthew 28:18–20 commands believers to teach all nations.
  • All Means All — No group is excluded from the mission of the gospel.

5. God’s Consistent Character

  • Unchanging God — God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
  • His Heart for People — How He viewed people in Scripture is how He views them now.

6. Our Role vs. God’s Role

  • We Teach; God Transforms — As people are taught, they conform to God’s will—not ours.
  • The Power of God’s Word — Isaiah 55:11 God’s Word will accomplish what He sends it to do.

7. Final Exhortation

  • Stop Judging; Start Obeying — Our calling is obedience, not gatekeeping salvation.
  • Carry the Word Faithfully — God has chosen us to speak His Word; He accomplishes His will through it.
