🌿 When Shepherds Wound — A Devotional for the Spiritually Bruised

“Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” declares the Lord. — Jeremiah 23:1

There is a grief that few speak of — the grief of being wounded by someone who claimed to speak for God.

When a preacher misuses Scripture…
When a leader manipulates with emotion…
When a pulpit becomes a stage for control instead of truth…
The soul learns to flinch at sermons, to question every “thus saith the Lord,” to guard itself even in worship.

This is not rebellion.
This is the ache of a sheep who was bitten by the shepherd.

But here is the healing truth:

God sees. God knows. God never approved of the abuse.

He warned of false prophets.
He exposed wolves in sheep’s clothing.
He rebuked shepherds who fed themselves and not the flock.

And He promised:

“I Myself will search for My sheep and look after them.” — Ezekiel 34:11

You are not forgotten.
You are not broken.
You are not bitter.
You are being healed.

Your discernment is not a wound — it is a gift forged in fire.
Your caution is not unbelief — it is wisdom shaped by survival.
Your story is not a disqualification — it is a ministry waiting to bloom.

Let the Lord shepherd you gently.
Let His Word be your pasture.
Let His Spirit be your guide.
Let His truth be your healing balm.

And when you’re ready…
Let your voice be a lighthouse for others still wandering in the fog of spiritual confusion.

You don’t have to trust every preacher.
You only need to trust the Good Shepherd.

“He will tend His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms.” — Isaiah 40:11
