Big Idea
It is better to solve problems peacefully than by fighting.
What Is Peace?
Peace means people are getting along with one another. Peace is when people use kind words, listen to each other, and work together to solve problems. Peace does not mean everyone always agrees. It means people try to solve disagreements without hurting others.
Ways Children Can Be Peacemakers
Children can help bring peace to their homes, schools, and communities by:
- Using kind words
- Sharing with others
- Taking turns
- Listening when someone is speaking
- Saying “I’m sorry” when they make a mistake
- Forgiving others
- Including children who feel left out
- Helping solve problems fairly
Being Kind to Others
Kindness is one way to spread peace. A kind word, a smile, or helping a friend can make someone’s day better. Even small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
Sharing and Taking Turns
Sometimes people want the same toy, game, or spot in line. Sharing and taking turns help everyone feel included. When we share, we show respect and care for others.
Helping Settle Disagreements
People do not always agree. When disagreements happen, we can:
- Stay calm.
- Listen to each person.
- Use kind words.
- Look for a fair solution.
- Work together.
Peace Around the World
People in countries all around the world want their families to be safe and happy. Even though people may speak different languages or have different traditions, they can still be friends and work together.
