🤨1. What is an intersection
An intersection is a place where two or more streets meet.
Some are tiny like a mouse…
Some are big like a giant!
You might cross an intersection when going to the library, school, park, or the bus stop.
⭐2. Why are intersections tricky
At intersections, cars can come from many directions —
front, back, left, right — like a little traffic dance.
That’s why we use our Super Safety Steps.
🦸♂️ 3. The 5 Super Safety Steps for Crossing Intersections
- Find a safe place — Look for a crosswalk or a spot where you can see the road clearly.
- Stop at the edge — Toes behind the line, body still.
- Look and listen — Cars make noise, but some are quiet. Use your eyes AND ears.
- Check for walking signs — The “walking person” means go, the “hand” means stop.
- Cross quickly and safely — Walk, don’t run. Stay inside the lines.
🧊4. Is it safer to cross at an intersection or in the middle of the block
It’s safer to cross at an intersection because that’s where drivers expect people to cross. If people don’t cross there, there may be acridid.
🥇5. How do you find a safe place at an intersection
You look for a marked or painted crosswalk — the white stripes that look like a zebra’s back.
That’s your safe path.
If there is no crosswalk, cross at the corner, where you can see cars better.
🚦 6. What do traffic lights mean
Traffic lights help drivers know what to do, and they help you know when it’s safe to cross.
–Red Light: = STOP
–Yellow (Amber) Light: = Slow down
– Green Light: = GO
🚸7. Pedestrian Signals
- Walk Signal: Indicates it is safe for pedestrians to cross the street. Drivers must yield to pedestrians during this time.
- Don’t Walk Signal: Pedestrians should stay out of the crosswalk, and drivers can go ahead if the intersection is clear.
