To be filled with the Spirit, as Ephesians 5:18–20 teaches, means letting the Holy Spirit guide, empower, and renew your heart every day — not just in moments of worship, but in ordinary life. It’s a continual surrender to God’s presence within you.

🌿 1. Empty Yourself of Competing Influences

  • The verse contrasts being “drunk with wine” with being “filled with the Spirit.”
  • That means: don’t let anything else control your emotions or decisions — whether fear, anger, or worldly distractions.
  • Practice: Begin your day asking, “Lord, fill me with Your Spirit instead of my own desires.”

💛 2. Invite His Presence Daily

  • The Spirit fills hearts that are open and expectant.
  • Practice: Spend time in prayer and worship, not rushing through it.
  • Scripture: Luke 11:13 — “How much more will your Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

🎶 3. Keep a Worshipful Heart

  • Ephesians 5:19 says to speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.
  • Practice: Let praise and gratitude shape your atmosphere — sing, hum, or whisper Scripture throughout the day.
  • Scripture: Psalm 22:3 — “God inhabits the praises of His people.”

🌞 4. Stay in Step with the Spirit

  • Being filled isn’t a one-time event; it’s a rhythm of obedience.
  • Practice: When you sense conviction or prompting, respond quickly — that’s how you stay aligned with Him.
  • Scripture: Galatians 5:25 — “If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.”

🕊️ 5. Overflow into Others

  • The Spirit’s fullness shows in kindness, patience, and joy.
  • Practice: Let your words and actions bring peace and encouragement wherever you go.
  • Scripture: John 7:38 — “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”
