Savory Steak Recipe with V-8 Juice
What you need
- 21/4 pounds steak [round or rump]
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon basil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 3 tablespoon butter
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic [minced]
- 1 1/2 cup V-8 juice
- 1 cup water
- 1-pound fresh mushrooms
- (Caps whole, stem sliced)
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley [chopped]
Other things you need
- heavy skillet with lid
- sturdy saucer
- measuring spoons and cups
What you need to do
- Trim fat from meat.
- Pound meat with edge of a sturdy saucer.
- Combine thyme, basil, salt and flour.
- Sprinkle half over top of steak.
- Turn meat over and repeat process.
- In a heavy skillet that has a lid, heat butter with garlic and, over moderate heat, brown steak on both sides.
- Add V-8 juice and water.
- Cover pan with lid and simmer for 1 hour and 50 minutes, skimming off fat as it accumulates.
- Add mushrooms and cook for 10 minutes more.
- Good served with rice or potatoes.
