The Bible remains the best‑selling book in America, yet it is also one of the least read. This creates a striking paradox: if it is the most purchased book, why is it not the most opened? Many households own multiple Bibles, yet seldom spend time reading them.
Bibles are everywhere — in hospitals, waiting rooms, nursing homes, hotels, and displayed prominently in homes. Some families keep a large decorative Bible on a table or shelf. This raises an important question: Do people assume that simply owning a Bible brings favor with God? If so, they are greatly mistaken.
Scripture never teaches that possession of a Bible leads to salvation. Salvation comes only through Jesus Christ. To know Him, we must spend time with Him — and He speaks to us through His Word. Reading the Bible is how we learn His heart, His ways, and His will.
It is time to move beyond merely displaying the Bible and begin reading it, understanding it, and living it. God does not bless ownership; He blesses obedience. The Bible is not meant to be a decoration — it is meant to be opened, studied, and treasured.
