Easy Turkey Bacon and Cheese Potato Campfire Recipe

COOKOUT POTATOES are great. It is possible to cook these in the oven but it takes longer.

Ingredients:

  • 5 slices bacon (turkey bacon works great if fried in a little cooking oil)
  • 3 large-sized potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 large onion
  • ½ pound cheddar cheese (block cheese)
  • 1 stick (4 ounces) butter or margarine

Directions:

  1. Fry bacon in a skillet over low heat until
    crisp.
  2. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Crumble bacon into small pieces.
  4. Peel potatoes, slice them thin, then put them on a large piece of foil.
  5. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Spread bacon crumbs over potatoes.
  7. Peel the onion, cut thin slices, and place them on the crumbs.
  8. Cut cheese into small cubes and dot over onion
    slices.
  9. Cut butter into squares and cover the cheese with them.
  10. Wrap the foil around this potato mixture and seal the edges tightly.
  11. Cook over hot coals for 1 hour. Turn over several times while cooking.
    Serves 4.
