🧼 What Needs to Be Cleaned Out of Our Lives?

A Spring Reflection Rooted in Scripture

Just as dust gathers in corners and clutter fills our closets, our hearts can quietly collect things that don’t belong. Bitterness. Pride. Distraction. Fear. These things settle in slowly—often unnoticed—until they begin to crowd out peace, joy, and clarity.

Spring is a beautiful time to pause and ask:
“Lord, what needs to be swept out of my soul?”

Here are a few things the Bible invites us to clean out:

🧹 1. Bitterness and Unforgiveness

“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger… be put away from you.” — Ephesians 4:31
Unforgiveness clings like cobwebs. God calls us to release it and make room for grace.

🧹 2. Pride and Self-Reliance

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” — James 4:6
Pride blinds us to our need for God. Humility opens the windows to His help and healing.

🧹 3. Distraction and Busyness

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
We often fill our lives with noise. But stillness is where we hear His voice.

🧹 4. Fear and Anxiety

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
Fear clutters the heart. Trust clears the way for peace.

🧹 5. Hidden Sin

“Search me, O God, and know my heart… and lead me in the way everlasting.” — Psalm 139:23–24
God doesn’t shame us—He gently reveals what needs to go so we can walk in freedom.

As you clean your home this spring, take time to clean your heart. Ask the Lord to sweep away what’s hindering you and restore what brings life.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
