International Firefighter’s Day is May 4th

🌟 What International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) Is

International Firefighters’ Day was established in 1999 after the tragic loss of five Australian firefighters during a bushfire. It is a global day to:

  • Honor firefighters who have died in the line of duty
  • Thank active firefighters for their courage, service, and protection of life, property, and the environment
  • Raise awareness of fire safety and prevention

May 4 was chosen because it is also the Feast Day of St. Florian, the patron saint of firefighters. National Day Calendar
