🐷 Pig Teeth — Nature’s Chewing Tools!

🦷 What Are Pig Teeth Like?

Pigs have teeth just like people — some for biting, some for tearing, and some for chewing. Their teeth help them eat fruits, vegetables, roots, nuts, and even tiny bugs they find while exploring.

🐽 How Many Teeth Do Pigs Have?

Adult pigs usually have between 34 & 44 teeth depending on species! That’s more than humans, who have 32.

Piglets start with small ā€œbaby teeth,ā€ and as they grow, their adult teeth come in — just like kids losing baby teeth.

šŸ– Types of Pig Teeth

  • Incisors — These are the front teeth. Pigs use them to nibble and pick up food.
  • 8 Canines — These are the pointy teeth. In wild pigs, they can grow long and sharp, but in farm pigs they stay smaller.
  • Premolars — These help pigs crush food.
  • Molars — These big, flat teeth grind food into tiny pieces so pigs can swallow safely.

🐷 Fun Facts About Pig Teeth

  • Pigs’ teeth keep growing as they age.
  • Wild pigs use their canines to dig and protect themselves.
  • Farm pigs mostly use their teeth for chewing food and playing.
  • Piglets are born with tiny teeth called ā€œneedle teeth.ā€
