  • Empowered by the Holy Ghost
  • Not empty ritual or performance

• Repentance
• Gratitude
• Praise
• Obedience

Truth:

God looks first at the heart of the worshipper.

IV. Worship in Truth

Worship must align with Scripture.

• In Truth means:
  • According to God’s Word
  • Rooted in Christ, the Truth
  • Not shaped by culture or emotion alone
  • Rejecting false doctrine and human tradition

Examples:

• Singing Scripture‑based songs
• Obeying God’s commands
• Honoring God’s holiness
• Rejecting teachings that contradict Scripture

Truth:

Worship without truth is emotion; worship without spirit is ritual.

V. Biblical Expressions of Worship

Worship is inward, but it produces outward expression.

• Psalm 95:6 — kneeling
• Psalm 134:2 — lifting hands
• Psalm 33:2–3 — singing
• Hebrews 13:15 — offering praise
• Obedience — living out God’s commands
• Holiness — reflecting God’s character

Truth:

Outward worship is meaningful only when it flows from inward truth.

VI. Worship as Daily Life

Worship is not an event; it is a lifestyle.

• Romans 12:1–2 — living sacrifice
• Colossians 3:17 — do all in His name
• Psalm 1 — delighting in God’s Word
• Joshua 24:15 — choosing whom you will serve

Daily worship includes:

• Prayer
• Scripture reading
• Gratitude
• Repentance
• Service
• God‑honoring choices

Truth:

Worship is every moment lived before God.

VII. Hindrances to True Worship

Things that block or distort worship:

• Unconfessed sin
• Idolatry
• Hypocrisy
• Tradition replacing Scripture
• Emotionalism without doctrine
• Doctrine without heart

Truth:

Anything that competes with God will corrupt worship.

VIII. The Blessings of True Worship

When worship is sincere and scriptural:

• God draws near (James 4:8)
• Joy increases (Psalm 16:11)
• Strength is renewed (Psalm 29:11)
• Hearts are transformed (2 Corinthians 3:18)
• God is glorified (Revelation 4:11)

Truth:

Worship changes the worshipper.
