A place to grow your relationship with God

Teaching children is the job of the parents. Children are a heritage from the Lord. Since all children belong to the Lord God Almighty and were created by him, don’t you think that it would be wise to consult him about how to raise the children that God gave you stewardship over. He Word has something to say about how and who are to teach the children. Let’s look to the Word of God now.

And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth. — Deuteronomy 11:19-21

He said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. They are not just idle words for you—they are your life.” — Deuteronomy 32:46-47

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. — Proverbs 22:6

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands. — Psalm 78:4-7

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. – Psalm 127:3-4

Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation. – Joel 1:3

As you can see, there are many verses telling parents to teach their children. Please do not leave the teaching of your children to others. God did not give your children to them. Set aside time to talk to and with your children. Your children are the most important treasure that you will ever have.
