“Lord, send a revival… and let it begin in me.”
🕊️ I. What Revival Actually Is
Revival is not an event, a weekend, a conference, or a wave of emotion. Revival is God restoring life where spiritual life has faded.
Revival is:
- Repentance — not excitement
- Holiness — not hype
- Obedience — not noise
- Transformation — not temporary feelings
Revival is when the Holy Spirit returns to His rightful place in the church — as a dove, not a storm.
🕊️ II. Why Modern Revivals Fail
Many modern revivals burn hot and fast… then disappear.
Why?
1. They are loud, not holy.
Noise is not power. Emotion is not anointing. Volume is not victory.
2. They focus on crowds, not hearts.
True revival begins in the secret place, not the spotlight.
3. They chase manifestations, not repentance.
People want miracles but avoid surrender. They want fire but not cleansing. They want blessing but not brokenness.
4. They are built on adrenaline, not Scripture.
Adrenaline fades. Scripture roots.
5. They stir feelings but not obedience.
A revival that does not produce holiness is not revival — it is entertainment.
🕊️ III. The Biblical Pattern of Revival
Every revival in Scripture follows the same pattern:
1. God confronts sin.
Revival begins with conviction, not celebration.
2. People repent.
Not emotional displays — actual turning.
3. The Word is restored.
Revival is always Word-centered.
4. The Spirit moves gently and powerfully.
Not chaotically. Not theatrically. Not competitively.
5. Lives change permanently.
Revival produces:
- new habits
- new holiness
- new priorities
- new obedience
- new love for God
Anything less is not revival.
🕊️ IV. The Song’s Message Is the Blueprint
The heart of the song is simple:
“Lord, send a revival — and let it begin in me.”
This is the revival God honors.
Revival begins when:
- I repent
- I surrender
- I obey
- I seek holiness
- I return to Scripture
- I quiet my life enough for the dove to rest
Revival does not begin in the crowd. Revival begins in the individual heart.
🕊️ V. What a True Revival Looks Like Today
A real revival today would be:
1. Quiet enough for the Spirit to speak.
Not chaotic. Not theatrical. Not overwhelming.
2. Holy enough for the Spirit to stay.
Purity attracts the dove. Noise chases Him away.
3. Deep enough to transform families.
Revival restores:
- marriages
- children
- prodigals
- priorities
- holiness in the home
4. Orderly enough to reflect God’s nature.
The Spirit does not move in disorder. He moves in peace, clarity, and purpose.
5. Personal enough to spread naturally.
Revival spreads heart to heart, home to home, life to life — not stage to stage.
🕊️ VI. The Call: Wake Up, Church
The church must awaken to this truth:
- Revival is not noise.
- Revival is not crowds.
- Revival is not hype.
- Revival is not a weekend.
- Revival is not a trend.
Revival is holiness restored. Revival is Scripture reopened. Revival is families healed. Revival is sin confessed. Revival is the Spirit welcomed. Revival is the dove returning.
And revival begins in me.
🕊️ VII. Closing Exhortation
Church, wake up.
Return to holiness. Return to Scripture. Return to prayer. Return to order. Return to the gentle presence of the Holy Spirit.
Ask God for revival — and ask Him to start with your heart, your home, your family, your obedience.
Because when revival begins in one person… it can spread to the whole church.
