Scriptures That Affirm Your Value as God’s Creation

I am no body; How about you? I am sure that I am no body because my grandma told me so.  She told me that by her actions. She would yell and scream that none of her grandchildren would help her with the peas. All while my thumbs were turning purple from shelling black-eyed purple hull peas. Have you ever felt this like a nobody because of the actions or words of others? If so, then listen up. God loves you. He has very different thoughts. It is His thoughts that matter.

Thankfully, God considers us somebody. Here are some scriptures about what God thinks about us.

  • For you were made in my image
    • Genesis 1:27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
  • I chose you when I planned creation
    • Ephesians 1:11-12 In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.

  • For I am your provider and I meet all your needs
    • Matthew 6:31-33 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
  • My plan for your future has always been filled with hope
    • Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
  • Because I love you with an everlasting love
    • Jeremiah 31:3 The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

  • As a shepherd carries a lamb, I have carried you close to my heart
    • Isaiah 40:11 He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.

    • Revelation 21:3-4 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Just remember when you feel like you are a no body, You are still important to God.

Exploring Contemplative Ideas to Strengthen Your Beliefs

This section is dedicated to various reflections, ideas, points for contemplation, and unique perspectives. It is my hope that these articles will assist in your journey with Jesus.

  • Songs and their Rich History: Songs reflect our emotions, highlighting how past generations prioritized prayer. Today, busy lives overshadow daily communication with God, leaving many to seek Him only in crisis.
  • Preacher Qualifications: The content discusses the scriptural qualifications for pastors, emphasizing the importance of good behavior and moral integrity, illustrated by a personal anecdote about a poor pastoral example.
  • 10 Commandments: The text outlines the Ten Commandments from Exodus and their relevance in the New Testament, emphasizing love for God as the foundation for obedience.
  • The House Built on the Rock: Jesus teaches that a life built on Him is secure, requiring not just faith but also action through obedience to His commandments, ensuring resilience in adversity.
  • Fruit of the Spirit: The fruit of the Spirit encompasses love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance—guiding moral behavior and interpersonal relationships.
  • Can Christians eat Blood?: The Bible prohibits the consumption of blood, as shown in various scriptures, establishing this law as ongoing for both Israelites and Gentiles since ancient times.
  • How to increase your Faith: Faith is essential for pleasing God. To increase faith, Christians should read the Bible daily, seek God diligently, and communicate with Him through prayer.
  • Examples of Faith: The content emphasizes that faith leads to action, exemplified through biblical figures. Salvation is a gift from God, resulting in a transformative relationship with Him.
  • Thanksgiving: Thanksgiving, originally a day of gratitude, has become stressful for many. The Bible encourages giving thanks, featuring numerous scriptures that highlight gratitude and praise.
  • Respect in God’s House: Church teachings emphasize the importance of respect in the House of God, supported by biblical verses like Ecclesiastes 5:1 and Proverbs 1:7. Reverence for God should be instilled in children from a young age, as inappropriate behaviors, such as fighting, reflect a lack of respect. Proper training ensures respectful conduct during worship and fellowship activities.
  • The Decline of Church Attendance Among Youth: My great-grandmother advocated for Friday night church services for youth, fearing their absence would lead to declining church attendance, which has occurred.
  • Why Churches Must Welcome Children for Growth: Jesus emphasized the importance of welcoming children into the church, highlighting their role in the kingdom of God and the necessity of nurturing future generations.
  • Men and Asking Directions: The Wise Men’s journey to Jesus involved asking Herod for directions, which ultimately led to tragedy. This raises questions about the stereotype of men not asking for help.
  • The Importance of Giving: Lessons from the Bible: The discussion emphasizes understanding scripture context, focusing on tithes and generous, purposeful giving, aligning with biblical teachings.

Bible Studies for Overcoming Life’s Challenges

Life is difficult. Here are some Bible studies to help you learn what the Bible says about many topics. There are a variety of topics that deal with life. I hope that some of these topics will help you in your walk with Jesus.

Called and Equipped: Trust in God’s Plan

God doesn’t call the equipped; he equips the called. If you are more than able to do the job, you will not have to depend on God. God calls them that know they can’t do the job without him. Then God gets the glory and the praise. God wants things done His way for a reason. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Take a look at some examples from Scriptures:

  • Sarah and Abraham
    • The Birth of Isaac
      • Genesis 21:1-7 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me. And she said, Who would have said unto Abraham, that Sarah should have given children suck? for I have born him a son in his old age.
  • Moses
    • talking to Pharaoh
      • Exodus 4:10-17 And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, -nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart. And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do. And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God. And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.
    • The Red Sea
      • Exodus 14:10-16 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
        • remember that going forward meant going into the sea.
    • leading the people
      • Exodus 33:12-15 And Moses said unto the Lord, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. And he said unto him, If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence.
        • Moses is basically saying that God, if you don’t go with me, I can’t do this job.
  • Joshua
    • Walls of Jericho
      • Joshua 5:13-6:4 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant? And the captain of the Lord’s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in. And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour. And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.
  • Gideon
    • Becoming the leader
      • Judges 6:14-17 And the Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee? And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house. And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man. And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.
    • The fight against the Midianites
      • Judges 7:7-23 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place. So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley. And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host: And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host. And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude. And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host. And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do. When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon. So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands. And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon. And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran, and cried, and fled. And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath. And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.
  • David
    • Goliath
      • 1 Samuel 17:22-24 And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren. And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them. And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
      • 1 Samuel 17:45-47 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.

So, if that:

  • river is too deep and wide
  • wall is too tall
  • army to too big
  • job is too difficult

Pray and trust God. He will make a way where there is no way.

My Guardian Angel

We all have a Guardian Angel. When we are bad and when we are good.

Who sent us an angel? It is God above heaven and Earth who did.

God knew us when we were a babe and when we were not even born.

But when we are born it is a very happy day in heaven and on earth.

God will send a Guardian Angel for us.

When we are sad and feeling blue, our guardian Angel comforts us.

They Protect us when we can’t help our self.

They do more than that, our Guardian Angel Prays for us. Our Guardian Angel prays that we do right.

Even if you don’t see them, you have one beside all of your days. They protect us and comfort us.

Our Guardian Angel Loves us, but not as much God does.

Scriptures to consider:

  • Psalm 91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
  • Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
  • Matthew 18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.

Redeeming the Time: Walk Wisely in Every Season

Eph 5:15-17 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Col. 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Time: Strong’s G2540 kairos: of uncertain affinity; an occasion, i.e. set or proper time:—X always, opportunity, (convenient, due) season, (due, short, while) time, a while. Compare G5550.

Outline of Biblical Usage

  1. due measure
  2. a measure of time, a larger or smaller portion of time, hence:
    1. a fixed and definite time, the time when things are brought to crisis, the decisive epoch waited for
    2. opportune or seasonable time
    3. the right time
    4. a limited period of time
    5. to what time brings, the state of the times, the things and events of time

Redeeming: Strong’s G1805 – exagorazō: ex-ag-or-ad’-zo; from G1537 and G59; to buy up, i.e. ransom; figuratively, to rescue from loss (improve opportunity):—redeem.

Outline of Biblical Usage

  • to redeem
    • by payment of a price to recover from the power of another, to ransom, buy off
    • metaphor of Christ freeing the elect from the dominion of the Mosaic Law at the price of his vicarious death
  • to buy up, to buy up for one’s self, for one’s use
    • to make wise and sacred use of every opportunity for doing good, so that zeal and well doing are as it were the purchase money by which we make the time our own

We need to walk in wisdom not foolishness.
Redeeming the time means to do things in their proper time or season. There is a season or time for everything. A time to plant and a time to harvest, a time to cry and rejoice. A time to be with your
children and a time to let them go because they are now adults. There is a time for learning and a time for testing.

So, what are you doing with your time. Are you spending it wisely or foolishly? Are you redeeming the time?

  • If you have children, have children, are you remembering to train them and enjoying spending time with them? Remember children are only children for a short time.
  • If you are a single adult, are remembering to enjoy this season of your life?
  • Everyone that knows Jesus, are you remembering to share your faith with others before time runs out?
  • If you don’t know Jesus, what you waiting for? Now is the time!

Remember no one knows the day or the hour of Jesus’ return. None of us know exactly how long our life will be. Redeem the time that you have. Use your time wisely.

Interpretación de 1 Corintios 11:1-16

1 Corintios 11:1-16

  11. Pero en el Señor, ni el varón es sin la mujer, ni la mujer sin el varón;

    • 1 Timoteo 2:9 Asimismo, que las mujeres se adornen con ropa modesta, con pudor y modestia; no con peinados trenzados, ni oro, ni perlas, ni vestidos costosos;
(Mateo 12:34)

Understanding Paul’s Teachings on Head Coverings

1 Corinthians 11:2-16

  1. Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
  2. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
  3. But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
  4. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
  5. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
  6. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
  7. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
  8. For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
  9. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
  10. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
  11. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
  12. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
  13. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
  14. Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
  15. But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
  16. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

Notice that Paul is putting the things in something similar to a military order. God is on the top. Jesus is under God. Men come under Jesus. Women come under men. I am not talking about Superiority. This is referring to responsibility and accountability. This is also giving each of us a distinction in function. In the military there is a distinction in the clothing worn by the people of various ranks. Everyone is important, but different people have different levels of responsibility. Paul likewise gives us instruction on how to come before God. Notice verse, 4. It talks about how a man should look when he is Praying or prophesying.

  • praying = G4336: proseúchomai, pros-yoo’-khom-ahee; from G4314 and G2172; to pray to God, i.e. supplicate, worship:—pray (X earnestly, for), make prayer.
  • prophesying = G4394: prophēteúō, prof-ate-yoo’-o; from G4396; to foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise the prophetic office:—prophesy.

Now look at Verses 5-16. These verses have been taught a variety of ways.

  • Some say these verses mean that a woman can’t cut her hair
  • Some say these verses only applied to the Women at Corinth.
  • Some say these verses mean that it is a symbolic covering.
  • Some say these verses mean that a woman should wear a head covering,

It is amazing that for years there was no arguments that verse 4 meant that men were to take off
their hats before praying or when in a church service (the whole church service was considered meeting with God), but the verses about women created a problem.

I am not going to tell you which is right. That is the Holy Spirit’s job. John 16:13 says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” I am going to tell you to study, think about some questions, and pray about it.

Questions for consideration:

  • Consider verses 6 and 15. Why are you cutting a woman’s hair for not being covered if her hair is the covering referred to in verse 6?
  • Why has verse 4 been taken literally for years and the other verses taken many different ways?
  • Why is there now an increase in the men wearing hats in church?

For any woman considering head covering please note the following:

  • No where in the Bible does it specify color, shape, style, or size.
    • You will need it big enough to be a covering of some kind that can be seen. Think about the size of the top of your head.
  • Notice that is says head covering, not hair covering.
  • The Bible does command modesty.
    • 1 Timothy 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
  • No where in the Bible does it command that a woman’s hair must be on top of her head. (This can and does frequently cause headaches.)
  • Yes, obedience to God is evidence of salvation; however, head covering is not salvation. Only a relationship with Jesus can save you. The rest is just walking in obedience.
    • James 2:17-20 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
      • a relationship is required
      • works without faith will not save you
      • The pharisees looked righteous, but Jesus called them vipers. (Matthew 12:34)

Understanding Salvation Bracelets: A Craft for Sharing the Gospel

Salvation Bracelets were very popular when I was growing up in Mississippi. They were a frequent craft project at Vacation Bible School (VBS). They were seen as a simple way to teach children how to share the gospel with others. Below I will explain the bracelets.

Salvation Bracelets were made from a string and several beads. The there was 1 bead of each of the following colors: black, red, blue, white, green, and yellow. Each color represented a different truth.

  • black = sin
  • red = blood of Christ
  • blue = baptism in water
  • white = cleansing from sin
  • green = spiritual growth.
  • yellow = heaven

This bracelet is useful as tool for telling us about Jesus in the United States. In some places it is not useful because the colors are not perceived the same by everyone. Beads are not just decorations in some cultures and some colors already have major meanings in some cultures. When sharing the gospel, it is not possible to just a one size fits all mentality. The culture of the people you are witnessing to must be taken into consideration.

Embracing Life’s Trials: A Biblical Perspective

Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” This means the good, the bad, and the ugly. This includes all of life’s problems.  When we are walking through the problems, it is often hard to see or even consider the good that will come from the experience.  God will often use times of trouble or problems to test us and/ or to help us grow up spiritually. Remember that to have a testimony, you must first pass through a test (problems).

Sometimes we can look back and see how those times worked together for our good. Other times we may never know. Just remember that all means all. Also remember Romans 5:1-5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

This does not mean that we are to ask God for patience. It does mean that when problems come we can have a better understanding that God has not forsaken us; he is still at work and we are to simply trust and obey him.
