The Trumpet Judgments (Revelation 8–11)

A structured overview of the seven trumpet judgments and the events surrounding them.

📯 1st Trumpet — Revelation 8:7

• Hail and fire mixed with blood thrown to the earth
• One-third of all trees burned
• All green grass burned

📯 2nd Trumpet — Revelation 8:8–9

• Something like a great burning mountain cast into the sea
• One-third of the sea becomes blood
• One-third of sea creatures die
• One-third of ships destroyed

📯 3rd Trumpet — Revelation 8:10–11

• A great star falls from heaven, burning like a lamp
• Falls on one-third of rivers
• Falls on earth’s springs/fountains
• The star’s name: Wormwood (“bitter”)
• Waters become bitter
• Many die from the poisoned waters

📯 4th Trumpet — Revelation 8:12–13

• One-third of the sun, moon, and stars darkened
• One-third of day and night without light
• An angel cries: “Woe, Woe, Woe”
  • Warning of the final three trumpet judgments

📯 5th Trumpet — Revelation 9:1–12 (First Woe)

• A star falls from heaven with the key to the bottomless pit
• Pit opened → smoke darkens the sun and air
• Locust-like beings emerge
• They torment all without the seal of God for five months
• They do not harm plants
• They have a king:
  • Abaddon (Hebrew) — “destruction,” “ruin,” “place of destruction”
  • Apollyon (Greek) — “Destroyer”
• Locusts appear prepared for battle

📯 6th Trumpet — Revelation 9:13–21 (Second Woe)

• Four fallen angels bound at the Euphrates are released
• They lead an army of 200 million horsemen
• They kill one-third of mankind
• Their judgment comes through three plagues:
  • Fire
  • Smoke
  • Brimstone
• Humanity still refuses to repent

Interlude: Revelation 10–11:14

The Mighty Angel & the Little Book (Revelation 10)

• A mighty angel gives John a little book
  • (You note the possible connection to Daniel 12:9 — sealed until the end)
• John eats the book:
  • Sweet in the mouth
  • Bitter in the stomach
• Seven thunders speak, but John is told not to write their words

Measuring the Temple (Revelation 11:1–2)

• John measures the Temple of God
• The outer court is excluded
  • Given to the Gentiles
  • They will trample the holy city for 42 months

The Two Witnesses (Revelation 11:3–14)

I identify them as Enoch and Elijah, based on Hebrews 9:27 (“appointed unto men once to die”).

Their ministry:

• Prophesy for 42 months
• Powers:
  • Fire from their mouths to destroy attackers
  • Shut heaven so no rain falls
  • Turn water to blood
  • Strike the earth with plagues at will

Their death:

• The beast from the bottomless pit kills them
• Bodies lie in the street of the great city
  • Spiritually called Sodom and Egypt
  • The place where Jesus was crucified
• Bodies remain unburied for 3½ days
• Earth-dwellers rejoice

Their resurrection:

• After 3½ days, God’s Spirit enters them
• They stand; observers are terrified
• They ascend to heaven

📯 7th Trumpet — Revelation 11:15–19 (Third Woe)

• The kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord and His Christ
• Christ shall reign forever
• Worship erupts in heaven
• The Ark of His Testament appears in the heavenly temple
• The time for the dead to be judged arrives
• Wrath comes; nations are angry
