Easy Home-made candy canes

Things needed

1 1/2 cups semisweet or
white chocolate chips, 9 oz.
1 tsp. oil
36 pretzel rods
snowflakes sprinkles, sprinkles, crushed candy, and any other candy

DIP PRETZELS:

  1. Line baking sheets with wax paper. In microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and oil; microwave on High in 20-second intervals, stirring, until melted and smooth.
  2. Dip each pretzel halfway or three-quarter way into chocolate, spreading with small spatula or back of spoon and allowing excess to drip off.

    SPRINKLE COATING:

3. Immediately sprinkle pretzels with sprinkles, or candies. Place on baking sheets. Let dry, about 1 hour.

Ingredients

CRUST

  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ table

FILLING

  • 8 cups thinly sliced apples (peeled, quartered, cored, and sliced crosswise)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 1 tablespoon flour

Directions

  1. For the crust:
    • Preheat oven to 400°F.
    • Cut shortening into flour and salt until particles are the size of small peas.
    • Sprinkle in ice water, one tablespoon at a time, tossing with a fork until all flour is moistened and a ball of dough can be formed. Add more water if necessary.
    • Refrigerate dough until ready to roll.
  2. For the filling:
    • Mix all ingredients with the apple slices.
    • Roll out refrigerated pie crust dough, place in pie pan. Add apple mixture.
    • Top with remaining crust.
    • Cut a few small slashes in top crust for a steam vent.

What you need

  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 8 to 10 garlic cloves, peeled
  • 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh rosemary or 3 tsp. dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • ½ tsp. coarsely ground pepper
  • 1 bone-in turkey breast (5 lbs.)

What you need to do

  1. In a food processor, combine the olive oil, garlic cloves, rosemary, salt, paprika and pepper; cover and process until the garlic is coarsely chopped.
  2. With your fingers, carefully loosen the skin from both sides of turkey breast. Spread half the garlic mixture over the meat under the skin. Smooth skin over meat and secure to underside of breast with toothpicks. Spread remaining garlic mixture over turkey skin.
  3. Place turkey breast on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 325º until a thermometer reads 170°, 12-2 hours. Let turkey stand for 15 minutes before slicing. Discard toothpicks.

Things Needed

  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups pecan pieces
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • Stirring Spoon

Steps

  1. Melt margarine in 8 cup microwavable bowl. Stir in evaporated milk and sugar.
  2. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Remove and stir. Microwave on high another 4 minutes.
  3. Remove and stir again. Add pecans and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Add vanilla and stir until mixture begins to thicken. Drop on wax paper and let cool overnight. Enjoy!

Makes 2 loafs

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 4 tsp yeast
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 1/2 Cup cinnamon sugar
  • 1 cup Raisins
  • 2/3 cup shortening

UTENSILS

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Mixing Spoon

  • Towel for covering the dough

Directions

  1. Microwave water for about 1 minute in a glass Measuring cup [1cup], get out of Microwave and put in a mixing bowl.
  2. Put the yeast and Syrup in the mixing bowl.
  3. Add in flour, cinnamon sugar, and raisins in the bowl, mix well.
  4. Let it raise in the mixing bowl, With a towel over it, For about 1 hour.
  5. Get out pans, spray with cooking oil then preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Cook for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Smart Laundry and Cleaning Hacks for Every Home

Here are some house cleaning tips.

  • A damp cloth is better at catching dust than a dry one. A dry duster just scatters it around and into the air. It then resettles elsewhere later.
  • A swifter can be used with a dust cloth. Wet the dust cloth and you can dust mop.
  • A mop is good for cleaning the bottom of the bathtub. It can save your back on bending over.
  • If you have to move something more than 1 time per day because it is in the wrong place, and that item needs a new location.

  • Major dusting should be done about every three months. I personally try to align it with seasonal decoration swapping.
    • It is easier to dust when the stuff has just been put into a container to save until next year.

MAKES: 18 servings

What you need

  • 1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping (frozen), divided
  • 1 pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix or your favorite cake recipe
  • 1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) Instant Chocolate Pudding
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar, divided
  • 1/2 tsp. milk
  • 11 NILLA Wafers
  • 4 squares Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped
  • 1 pkg. (8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1 jar (10 oz.) cherries, well drained, chopped
  • 1 strip peelable red licorice
  • 2 Marshmallows
  • 2 pretzel rods

Make it!

  1. REFRIGERATE 1/3 of the COOL WHIP. Return remaining COOL WHIP to freezer.
  2. Prepare cake batter, blend in dry pudding mix. Bake as directed on package for 2 (9-inch) round layers.
  3. Cool cakes in pans 10 min.; invert onto wire racks. Cool completely.
  4. MEANWHILE, mix 2 Tbsp. powdered sugar and milk. Brush onto wafers.
  5. Microwave frozen COOL WHIP and chopped chocolate on HIGH 1-1/2 min, or until chocolate is melted, stirring after 1 min. Cool 15 min to thicken.
  6. BEAT cream cheese and remaining sugar with whisk until well blended. Stir in cherries and thawed COOL WHIP.
  7. Stack cake layers on plate, filling with cream cheese mixture. Frost with chocolate mixture. Decorate with wafers and remaining ingredients to resemble drum and sticks. Refrigerate leftovers.
