The Seven Appointed Times of God

The table is adorned with various dishes and lit candles, with a radiant beam of light illuminating the space. A dove can be seen flying above, adding to the ethereal atmosphere.

The Seven Appointed Times of God

Understanding the Feasts as God’s Revealed Blueprint of Redemption

From the very beginning, Scripture shows us that God does nothing randomly or reactively. He works according to a perfect, predetermined plan—one He established before the foundation of the world. Peter declared this truth boldly when he preached that Christ was delivered to the cross “by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God” (Acts 2:23). The cross was not an accident of history; it was the centerpiece of God’s eternal design.

Not only does God have a plan—He has spoken that plan. Throughout the Old Testament, He revealed His purposes “at sundry times and in divers manners” through the prophets. In these last days, He has spoken with finality and clarity through His Son, “whom he hath appointed heir of all things” (Hebrews 1:1–2). Every word, every symbol, every appointed moment in Scripture points toward the fulfillment found in Christ.

And now, God is bringing His plan to completion. Revelation lifts our eyes to the future God has promised—a restored creation where He dwells with His people, wipes away every tear, removes death and sorrow forever, and makes all things new. The One seated on the throne declares, “It is done… I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end” (Revelation 21:3–7). The story God began, He will finish.

To help His people understand this grand story, God gave Israel a prophetic calendar—seven appointed times, or feasts, laid out in Leviticus 23. He said, “Concerning the feasts of the Lord… even these are my feasts” (Leviticus 23:2). These were not merely cultural holidays or agricultural celebrations. They were God’s own appointed moments—holy rehearsals that revealed His redemptive plan.

Each feast pointed to a specific work of God: some were fulfilled in the first coming of Christ, and others still look ahead to His return and the restoration of all things. Together, they form a breathtaking timeline of redemption, showing us what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will yet accomplish.

The Seven Appointed Times invite us to step into God’s rhythm, to see history through His eyes, and to marvel at the beauty of a plan that has been unfolding since the beginning—and will culminate in eternity with Him.
