Cooking with Kids: Simple Recipe Ideas

My 11-year-old daughter loves to help me cook and has a passion for making desserts. She’s the main one in our house who prepares the sweets and also assists me in posting the recipes here. These recipes are some of her favorites to make. While they’re great for older kids, younger kids can also try them with a bit of adult supervision.

Creative Scrambled Eggs Recipes Your Family Will Love

My husband’s favorite food is scrambled eggs. However, he wants more than just egg in his scrambled eggs. Through the years I have come up with some interesting combinations. Below you will find some of the combinations that we really like. Don’t knock any of these recipes until you give them a try. Many are good for a quick lunch or a side dish to supper.

Easy Corned Beef Hash and Egg Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 Can of corned Beef hash 

Directions:

  1. Cook corn beef until it starts to turn brown.
  2. Beat eggs
  3. Add eggs to corn beef and cook until done.

Easy Spinach and Egg Recipe

 
Ingredients:
  • Spinach 12-16 oz
  • eggs 6-8
  • salt and pepper (optional)
  • cooking oil
Instructions:
  1. Heat a little oil in a pan.
  2. Cook spinach until tender and slightly dry
  3. Beat the eggs
  4. Add in the eggs and salt and pepper if using
  5. Cook until the eggs are done.

Easy Tuna Egg Scramble Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1- 12 oz can of tuna
  • 4 eggs
  • Cooking oil

Directions:

  1. Drain can of tuna
  2. Cook tuna over medium heat until it starts to turn brown.
  3. Beat eggs.
  4. Add eggs to tuna and cook until done.

Quick Cilantro Egg Recipe

Ingredients:

• 1 bunch of cilantro

• 6 eggs

• ¼ cup of onion (optional)

• Cooking oil

Directions:

1. Chop onion

2. Put onion into frying pan and cook over low heat.

3. Cut cilantro into small pieces. Cilantro cuts easily with a pair of kitchen scissors.

4. When onion is half done, add in cilantro. Cook the cilantro down.

5. Beat eggs

6. After the cilantro has cooked down and the onion is done, add in the eggs.

7. Cook until the eggs are done.

Green beans and Scrambled Eggs

Ingredients:

• 1- 16 oz can of green beans

• 6 eggs

• Cooking oil

Directions:

1. Drain the can of beans

2. Put green beans into a frying pan with a small amount of oil and cook over medium heat.

3. Beat eggs.

4. Pour over beans

5. Cook until the eggs are done.

Scrambled Eggs and hotdog

 

Ingredients:

·       2 hotdogs

·       6 eggs

·       ½ onion (optional)

·       Cooking oil

·       Salt and pepper to taste

 

Directions:

1.    Cut hotdogs into small pieces

2.    Put onion into frying pan with a
small amount of oil. Heat over medium heat.

3.    Add in hotdog pieces.

4.    Beat the eggs.

5.    When the hotdogs are hot, add in the
eggs.

6.    Cook until the eggs are done.

Cactus and Scrambled Eggs

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of
    Cactus (drained)
  • 6 eggs
  • ½ chopped
    onion (optional)
  • Cooking oil
Directions: 
  1. Over medium heat with a little oil, cook the cactus until tender. The pictures shows the cactus being cooked.
  2.  Beat eggs.
  3. When cactus is tender, add in the
    eggs. Salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cook until egg is done.

Easy Potato and Egg Recipe for Quick Meals

Ingredients:
  • 1 small potato
  • 6 eggs
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Peel and wash potato.
  2. Dice potato into very small cubes.
  3. Cook potato in frying pan with a small amount of oil over medium heat covered. Remember to stir occasionally. Salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Beat eggs.
  5. When potato is soft, add in eggs.
  6. Cook until eggs are done.
  7. Remove from pan and eat.
